Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA)
is a national veterans service organization primarily serving the needs
of veterans of the Vietnam War era throughout the nation. VVA is funded
primarily by various fund-raising activities and its membership. One
source of funding is through the solicitation and resale of donated
household items. VVA solicits these donations by various marketing
techniques and profits from the donations by selling them through
contractual agreements with qualified retailers. As VVA is a veterans
service organization it does not own retail outlets that sell the
donations, instead has chosen to sell the donations through a bidding
process to qualified retailers.
A portion of
the proceeds from goods collected in Maryland are returned to the
Maryland State Council and the Maryland Chapters of VVA for use in
veterans service programs and community service program and are used
only to further the exempt or charitable purposes of the organizations.
